Centrally located on Bull Shoals Lake, Lakewoods' anglers find the best fishing without having to go very far in either direction. Coves, creeks, and timbered bluffs produce lunker bass. Large and Small mouth bass, White bass, Kentucky bass, Walleye, Crappie, Bluegill, Catfish, Lake trout and Stripers are waiting for you!
Our lake never freezes and produces a number of record catches. The lake is perennially ranked as one of the top lakes in Arkansas based on its reputation as a top producer year in and year out and the presence of good fishable population of so many species.
Bull Shoals fishing is world famous. The lake was formed when the US Army Corps of Engineers dammed the White River in 1952. Bull Shoals Lake provides excellent habitat for multiple species of game fish and is stocked regularly by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. It is long and narrow with numerous creek arms. The shoreline is 750 miles in length at normal pool level.
Fishing Bull Shoals by the season
Spring: With the first warm days of spring, Bull Shoals fish begin to move from their winter homes, and begin feeding heavily in preparation for the spawn. First walleye and then white bass make spawning runs up the larger creeks. Spring often brings higher water levels flooding shoreline brush. This becomes an attractor for largemouth and crappie. Smallmouth and kentucky bass can be found on gravel and chunk rock banks, feeding on crawfish.
Summer: Bass can be taken early in the day on surface lures, and during the day fishing deep with live bait. But the best bass fishing in the summer, is often at night. Walleye are often found on flats, around the thermocline, which forms in late spring, and does not dissipate till fall. White bass and Crappie are often found schooling, feeding on shad.
Fall: As the temperature drops in the fall, fish begin to move and can be caught at shallower depths and in the coves.
Winter: An excellent time for large bass. They are often located deep on flats and around bluffs.
