Fishing Bull Shoals by the season
SPRING. With
the first warm days of spring, Bull shoals fish begin to move from their
winter homes, and begin feeding heavily in preparation for the spawn.
First Walleye and then White Bass make spawning runs up the larger
creeks. Spring often brings higher water levels flooding shoreline
brush. This becomes an attractor for Largemouth and Crappie. Smallmouth
and Kentucky Bass can be found on gravel and chunk rock banks, feeding
on crawfish.
SUMMER.
Bass can be taken early in the day on surface lures, and during the day
fishing deep with live bait. But the best bass fishing in the Summer, is
often at night. Walleye are often found on flats, around the thermocline,
which forms in late spring, and does not dissipate till fall. White Bass
and Crappie are often found schooling, feeding on shad.
FALL. As
the temperature drops in the fall fish begin to move and can be caught
at shallower depths and in the coves.
WINTER
is an excellent time for large bass. They are often located deep on
flats and around bluffs.
Kevin and Sandy are happy
to share local knowledge about fishing Bull Shoals with guests.
