Fishing in Arkansas if fun for the whole family

Fishing is the ideal family activity providing sport and recreation for people of all ages.

Fish year round for various species including Largemouth, Smallmouth, Kentucky Bass, Walleye, Crappie, Bluegill, Catfish, Trout, and White Bass. Bull Shoals never freezes, and fishing is excellent whatever the season. Night fishing is especially popular and productive during the summer. Several state records have been caught in recent years including Smallmouth bass (7lb. 5oz.), spotted bass (7lb. 15 oz.), and white bass (5lb. 4 oz.).

The lake is perennially ranked as one of the top lakes in Arkansas based on its reputation as a top producer year in and year out, and the presence of good fishable populations of so many species.

Arkansas Sunset

One thing that makes a visit to Lakewoods resort special is its location in the scenic Southern Ozarks. The lake itself has an uncluttered shoreline and is noted for it’s beautiful limestone bluffs. With its abundant wildlife and breathtaking scenery the area is an attraction to photographers, nature lovers, and sportsman alike. The lakes clear blue green waters are tinged with minerals from the surrounding limestone.

Visitors enjoy fishing, boating, water skiing, scuba diving, and houseboating. Other activities many visitors enjoy are golf, antiquing, and hiking.

In spring, dogwood and redbud blossoms cover the hills, and fishing is at its best. Summer provides the ideal combination of air and water temperature for any water sport. Fall color is a spectacular backdrop for all types of outdoor activities. In winter many wonderful vistas open up, which are obscured by vegetation the rest of the year, popular activities are fishing and eagle watching.
